Texas A&M football has a lot of difference makers in the NFL right now, but the professional Aggies just took a hit as both Kenyon Green and Layden Robinson were cut today. Green and Robinson were both contributors to A&M's best offensive line in recent memory, the group that led the 2020 team to great heights, but both have had some trouble in the NFL.

Was a first-round pick in 2022 and has made 23 career starts. Had been acquired in a trade with the Texans in March. pic.twitter.com/EXHu2ayqyw
Green headed to the NFL after the 2021 season, where— while the line was not as bad as it could have been— it certainly was reduced in quality compared to the remarkable 2020 group. Robinson, though, stuck around through the end of 2023, seeing things through with maybe the worst offensive line run in quite some time in Aggieland.

It wasn't his individual fault, of course— fans know that the biggest issue with the offensive line in those years was Steve Addazio's hire. That, without a doubt, was Jimbo's biggest mistake, and the thing that eventually sunk him in Aggieland.

After the departure of Josh Henson following the 2021 season, Fisher brought in Addazio, who was unemployed at that point, to run the offensive front. Things very quickly went awry, though, as the Aggies quickly deteriorated at that position group— to a shocking degree.
The line play in 2022 and 2023 was nothing short of horrendous, all things considered. There were missed assignments aplenty, including one that led to Conner Weigman's injury in 2023. While there was a lot of physical talent, the linemen just weren't playing as a group.
With that in mind, it's not surprising to see many Aggie fans commenting on how Addazio's hire affected the career of Robinson in the wake of this news. Though Green was never under his tutelage, he is another in a trend of overall lack of development that began to take place under Jimbo in the latter years in College Station.
