I don't remember the last time Texas A&M ran a fake punt, but however long ago that was, the clock just reset.

In the middle of the third quarter in Texas A&M's game against the Missouri Tigers, Mizzou had just scored their first touchdown of the day to pull within 14, thanks to a huge kick return that set them up at midfield. With a little bit of momentum coming back into the stadium, the ferocious Missouri defense finally forced a three-and-out, and the Aggies lined up in punt formation.
With the Missouri fans celebrating a stop and hoping for a shot at a comeback, Mike Elko decided it was time to go for the jugular. The Tigers got caught catnapping in a big way as Dalton Brooks caught the ball on a direct snap and took off down the field for a massive 48-yard gain.
Highlight: Texas A&M runs perfectly-timed fake punt to keep Missouri deflated
This was the absolute perfect time for this call, given the game situation. The Aggies have this one well in control in a lot of ways, but the door was beginning to look like it was ever so slightly cracked for the Tigers to make a play or two and try to get back in the game.
However, this was a moment that simply had to be completely deflating. Brooks, the former running back for little Shiner High School in Texas, utilized his excellent athleticism to completely gouge an unsuspecting Missouri special teams unit.
This shows that Elko is committed to winning no matter what, and won't hesitate to make the calls necessary to get that to happen. The Aggies only ended up getting a field goal, but that pushed the game back to a three-score deficit in favor of the maroon and white, putting all the pressure right back on the Tigers.
