Underappreciated Aggie senior finally getting deserved love in NFL draft discussion

This was a long time coming, so it's good that someone is finally taking notice.

By far the most underrated player that the Aggies got from the transfer portal this previous cycle was former Iowa State defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim. The Richmond, Texas product came in and was an immediate impact player for the Aggies, despite being rated as a three-star prospect by the recruiting services.

His presence along the interior of the Aggies' defensive line was invaluable for the Aggies over this last season, especially given the razor-thin depth with which that unit was working all year. The lightning-quick first step that he repeatedly demonstrated put a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks, as a pass rush coming from the interior of the defensive line is one of the toughest to deal with.

That in mind, though Onyedim's measurables have him as a player currently overlooked when it comes to the national scene, he's beginning to pop up a little more as draft gurus look back at the tape from this year. He's beginning to get a little more credit as a guy that could come in and make noise immediately.

Tyler Onyedim may be overlooked in NFL draft discussions, but not for long

Bengals and Brews, a Cincinnati Bengals-focused podcast, put out a cut-up of Onyedim's tape on X recently, wondering if he should be a guy getting a little more attention.

Onyedim doesn't cut the figure of the prototypical defensive tackle in the NFL, but that doesn't mean he's not a player who can make some noise when he gets his opportunity. Rather, he seems like a guy that could come in and make an impact pretty quickly.

Though I doubt Onyedim will be a fast riser in the pre-draft process, he's my pick of Aggies heading to the NFL who will make some team very happy that they selected him in the late rounds.
