Notre Dame offensive lineman Charles Jagusah is set to miss a stretch of time after reportedly fracturing his arm over this past weekend. Jagusah is a stud lineman for the Irish, but a guy who has experienced several injuries already in his young career in the blue and gold.

Given that the Aggies play Notre Dame in week three of the college football season, it is eminently possible that this means that Jagusah will not be back by the time that these two teams square off. Notre Dame has a strong offensive line all the way down, but missing Jagusah would be a blow indeed.

Of course, there was a very similar discussion this past offseason about this very player. Jagusah suffered an injury before the 2024 season and was not present for the Aggies' game against the Irish in the opening weekend. The Irish triumphed anyway, of course— A&M lost their starting center only a few plays into the game to even out the attrition.

Even with an optimistic prognosis, Jagusah would be returning to practice right when or right after the Aggies roll into South Bend. The good news for all involved is that this is not an injury that has a history of derailing careers, so Jagusah should be back in full force as soon as October.

Despite the youth up front for the Irish last year and the experience for the Aggies' defensive line, things were a stalemate at best for much of the night. A&M was not able to press in on what many considered a decided advantage for the Ags coming into the night.

Will this second absence for Jagusah mean that the Aggies are able to exert their will up front in the rematch? The prospect doesn't necessarily seem great, given last season's results, but it's not a sure thing.

The Aggies' defensive line has quite a task ahead of them, but the group of Howell, Regis, Hicks, and Searcy are more than qualified. That's a talented bunch— but this game in South Bend will be their first true test.
