Von Miller has been one of the most visible Texas A&M players in the NFL for years now, and he's about to be more visible than ever. The former Super Bowl MVP has been part of several different teams over the past few years, but the match that every Aggie fan knew was made in heaven has finally come to fruition.

Miller, a graduate of DeSoto high school up in the DFW area, made his way to Texas A&M as a pretty slept-on recruit compared to what he ended up being— the no. 2 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Now, his journey has led him back to DFW, as he has joined up with the Dallas Cowboys to lend his pass-rushing talents to Brian Schottenheimer's squad.

While not every Aggie is a fan of the Cowboys, there is a large cross-section there, so this was a team-up that Texas A&M fans have been hoping for for some time. Back in Texas for the first time since college, Miller is going back to his Aggie roots with his choice of jersey number.

Miller is joining up with the Cowboys pretty late in the process, so he's just now coming to his first practice of training camp— and he showed up in the no. 40 that he wore back during his time down in College Station.

Miller has worn a couple of different jersey numbers in his time in the NFL, starting with the 58 that he wore in Denver. He wore 40 in his short stints with both the Rams and Bills, but last year, with the Commanders, he wore no. 24.

It's only fitting that, in his first return to playing primarily in the Lone Star State, he wears the same number that he wore in college. Miller made that number legendary in his days rushing the passer down in Kyle Field, and he's going to make a memorable impact in it this upcoming year in AT&T Stadium.

Miller is looking to add a pass-rush element to the Cowboys that they haven't had since Micah Parsons departed for Green Bay. Despite Miller coming in at age 37, he is still highly productive, having put up 9.5 sacks just last year— a far better mark than anyone on the roster currently for Dallas.

Pass-rushers can still get it done at an older age, and though Von may not be playing 50 snaps a game, he will no doubt leverage his still-intimidating physical gifts to make the times he does see the field count in a big way.

Even if you're a Texas A&M fan who isn't necessarily donning the silver and blue on Sundays, the hope for Miller to do big things this year is unanimous among the Aggie faithful. He's going to have a big spotlight on him this year, and he'll no doubt live up to it— and the fact that he'll do it in his Aggie no. 40 has to warm the heart of the maroon and white.
