The Texas A&M basketball team just finished off their non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season.
They finished off a dominant 92-54 win over Abilene Christian.
The story of the game was more of an appreciation to one veteran and what he's done for the Aggie basketball program during his tenure in College Station.
Wade Taylor IV moves into No. 2 all-time in points in school history
Believe it or not, Wade Taylor IV picked up his first career double-double in the game, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Wade Taylor passed Vernon Smith for second all-time in scoring in school history. Taylor IV is now 211 points away from passing Bernard King as the school's all-time leading scorer.
"It's a blessing. I'm thankful to be here. I'm thankful for my coaches and teammates. Hopefully we can keep it going."Wade Taylor IV
Taylor IV has no doubt been the anchor for this team. He's arguably in his best position ever in his college career, with Texas A&M establishing themselves as a physical team.
Taylor IV is averaging 15.9 points and 5 assists per game this season. Assuming Taylor IV stays active, he has a chance to pass Bernard King, the number one scorer in Texas A&M basketball history, in the middle of February.
King also left Texas A&M as the leader in three-point field goals made and second all-time in assists. King never saw the NBA but continued his basketball career overseas.
Taylor IV and the Aggies have a chance to make noise in SEC play starting with the Texas Longhorns at Reed Arena on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 7:00 CT on the SEC Network.
