Way-too-early 2025 SEC record predictions: South Carolina

I think the Gamecocks will be a trendy pick to make some noise in the SEC this upcoming year, and I understand why. With LaNorris Sellers having the close to the year that he did, having apparently taken that next step, and the way the SC pass rush has come onโ€” bolstered by freshman Dylan Stewartโ€” it's understandable to be high on the Gamecocks.

However, Kyle Kennardโ€” arguably their best defensive playerโ€” is out of eligibility. They will also lose their interior offensive line, not to mention their dynamic TE Josh Simon and RB Rocket Sanders.

Gamecock fans will be hoping to see Nyck Harbor take the next stepโ€” something he showed signs of down the stretch of the yearโ€” but I think a much more difficult schedule this year will be too much for them.

I think they pull off an upset at Ole Miss, but road trips to LSU and A&M don't look great, and neither does a home game against Bama. Combine that with their bad luck at Missouri, and this is an 8-4 year in Columbia, SC.

PREDICTION: 8-4 (4-4)
