Way-too-early 2025 SEC record predictions: Texas

Credit to the Longhorns for putting together a non-conference schedule that actually includes a losable game for once. They open the season at Ohio State, which will no doubt be one of the huge games of the first weekend.

After that, though, the Horns play three cupcake games against San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston. The toughest stretch of the season as far as home-road splits comes up next, though, as Texas won't play a game at DKR from week 5 until week 10. This does include Red River, though, which is not a true road game.

They do face the dreaded back-to-back conference road game, though it comes against Kentucky and Mississippi State. I think they drop one of these four games away from home, and since State comes on the back half of this two-game true road tripโ€” and they feature an annoying offense that gave Texas problems this yearโ€” I chose them to upset Sark's squad.

I then have the Longhorns losing two of their last three, at UGA and home against A&M. That puts them at four losses on the year.

PREDICTION: 8-4 (5-3)
