Who to root for in week 12 to help Texas A&M football get to the SEC Championship game

Well, Texas A&M football fans, here we are in late November and the Aggies are one of the teams with the best chance to make it to the SEC championship game. It's been very rare since A&M has been in this conference that that has been the case.

At this point, the Aggies winning out will get them to Atlanta no matter what. So in a sense, that much is settled.

But accounting for contingencies is part of this. Which wins and losses increase the chance for Texas A&M to make it to the SEC championship? Let's take a look.

Texas A&M football week 12 rooting guide: Texas at Arkansas

This could end up being a relatively minor result as far as getting the Aggies to Atlanta, but it would certainly strengthen the Arkansas win even further for A&M if the Hogs won today. Plus, bumping Texas down to two conference losses means that the Aggies would still be atop the conference standings at the end of the day (pending the Tennessee-Georgia game).

That loss would most likely eliminate Texas from the SEC championship discussion, though. It's looking like a lot of teams will be tied with two conference losses at the end of the season, and the Longhorns have the weakest in-conference schedule.

Since combined conference opponent winning percentage is one of the tiebreakers, that means that they'd be out of the discussion regardless of whether they pull off a win in College Station in two weeks. Since that eliminates one more possible team who might take the Aggies' spot, the Hogs pulling off an upset would be the result the Aggies are hoping for.
