What to watch in college football week 8: Late slate
First screen: 5 Georgia @ 1 Texas (7:30 PM ET/6:30 PM CT, ABC)
This is surely the game of the weekend. Georgia gets another tough test on the road, while Texas gets their first test all season. Can the Longhorns defend a team that knows what the forward pass is? Will Georgia actually look like they're trying in this game? All these questions and more surround this one.
Texas's offense seems tailor-made to exploit UGA's weaknesses in the same way that Alabama did a few weeks ago, but Quinn Ewers is still an enigma in his level of play. Since I'm a hater, I'll give this one to the Bulldogs. Prediction: UGA 38, Texas 31
Second screen: 8 LSU @ Arkansas (7 PM ET/6 PM CT, ESPN)
After a long, hard-fought, overtime rivalry victory against Ole Miss, the Tigers get to go on the road for a night game in Fayetteville. Oh, and it's against a team coming off of a bye week following a win over a top-five Tennessee team. Should be easy enough, right?
We'll get to see if the perceived improvement on the defensive side of the ball for LSU is for real in this one. Taylen Green, Andrew Armstrong, and Ja'Quinden Jackson, all under the watchful eye of Bobby Petrino, could make things difficult on the Tigers.
I think Nussmeier and the Bayou Bengals emerge victorious here, but just barely. Prediction: LSU 23, Arkansas 21
