Texas A&M football transfer portal departures: Conner Weigman - Houston

This is the one that most fans would probably be able to name offhand. The Weigman era at Texas A&M was turbulent and replete with unfulfilled potential, which makes this one bittersweet for a lot of fans.

Of course, you have some fans that felt scorned by the lack of consistency on Weigman's part after they had fully bought in. That's understandable on a human level, to a degree. But I don't get rooting against the guy after he clearly gave it all he had with A&M.

I've not shied away from my takes on just how good Conner can be. I believe he can be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12 under Willie Fritz, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a lot of noise in that conference next year. The Cougars are not super skilled, but with a guy like Weigman at the helm, that may not matter.

One thing is for sure— I'm excited to see what he does in H-Town next year. Can he carry the Coogs to potential CFP-level heights? If ASU can do it after a 3-9 season last year, why not?
