Texas A&M football is a popular pick to improve next year, but the way-too-early top 25 polls show some tempered optimism for the Aggies.

Where Texas A&M football lands in way-too-early top 25 rankings for 2025

With the CFP national championship now behind us, it's time for every media outlet to release their way-too-early rankings for next season— and Texas A&M football is a popular pick to be improved by leaps and bounds in 2025.

The Aggies impressed through the first half of this season, ranking in the top 10 before the bottom fell out later on in the year. This was despite, as we can now see in retrospect, a patchwork offense and a defense that was hanging on by a thread for much of the year— and it was that latter part unraveling that spelled the downfall of the Aggies in the final five games.

Even so, there's optimism for season two under Mike Elko, despite the departure of guys like Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart. Most of the offense will be back, including a very experienced offensive line, and several key defenders will return to College Station as well.

Where do ESPN, CBS, On3, and Pro Football Focus rank Texas A&M football in way-too-early top 25?

ESPN: 22
CBS: 22
On3: 19
Pro Football Focus: 10

PFF is by far the highest on the Aggies, ranking them as a top-10 team headed into next year. They credit Reed's projected development and the improvement at receiver, as well as how high they are on Cashius Howell.

Both ESPN and CBS have the Aggies at 22nd, and the latter seems much more bearish on A&M's outlook than the former. ESPN recognizes the Aggies' talent, while CBS only mentions A&M's late-season stumble from this previous year for some reason.

As this is the first ranking of several to come before next season actually rolls around in earnest, these predictions are subject to change. I think when all is said and done, A&M will end up in the 10-15 range in the initial rankings, so I see all of these numbers ending up moving much closer to each other.
