Shemar Turner may have been one of the most underrated Aggie players over the last four years. Turner got on the field from day one at Texas A&M, making big plays in just the second game of his career in that 10-9 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes that so many Aggie fans still remember tensely.
Turner has been a solid contributor ever since then for the Aggies, but where the intrigue has come for him has been in regard to where exactly he lines up. Turner has had experience both at end and at tackle, having played inside on the line for most of last year.
Some players take this tack simply because their size makes them a tweener, but Turner has been legitimately good at both spots. While I think he ended up better at tackle than at end, that positional versatility has to be a big boost for him as NFL draft scouts consider who to bring in. That's only one reason why Turner is about to make some fanbase extremely happy when his name is called.
Shemar Turner will bring positional value and ferocious play to whoever drafts him
Turner can present himself like a carefree and respectful guy during interviews, but he takes no prisoners on the field. We've actually seen him get a little too emotional at times in the past when he was being goaded particularly hard by an opposing team, but the point remains that his passion is really undeniable.
Combine that with the ability to play multiple positions, and Turner will be a steal if he ends up going where he's currently projected. Draft experts currently don't see Turner as a day-one guy, with several placing him in the third or fourth rounds. But if he does end up going that late, I think he'll be a happy surprise to many fans of whoever drafts him.
In all honesty, Turner hasn't yet reached his ceiling. There are some technique issues and bad habits that he still needs to work through, but if he does end up overcoming those, he could be a really high-value guy in the league. I think that's just what we see happening by the end of his career if he gets to the right spot.
