Why Texas A&M could give Dallas Cowboys a future star in first round of NFL draft

Texas A&M football has seen one of their players' draft stock rocket up in recent weeks. Here's why he's the perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys..

Texas A&M football is losing several players to graduation after this past year, but perhaps none more talented than Shemar Stewart. Despite entering last year as the proverbial second fiddle to Nic Scourton, Stewart has shot up draft boards as of late even as Scourton himself has faded a little bit.

Stewart's sudden rise is thanks to his extreme athleticism, which he put on display both on tape and at the NFL Combine, much more so than any stats. As a matter of fact, his statistical production has been quite poor compared to what you might expect from a defensive end that's in first-round discussions, but the potential is there without a doubt.

As Stewart continues to move up draft boards, Aggie fans are wondering where he could end up— after all, fit is important for DEs just like it is for QBs. As it turns out, the prime spot could be right here in the state of Texas.

Texas A&M football's Shemar Stewart could find perfect landing spot with Dallas Cowboys

With the departure of Demarcus Lawrence from the Dallas Cowboys, and the Micah Parsons situation looming, Shemar Stewart's prime landing spot could be up in Jerryworld. PFF put out a video today detailing why this could be the move for the former five-star.

So not only does this fit a personnel need, this could be an exact scheme fit as well with Matt Eberflus's four-down packages. Stewart very well might be the answer that Cowboys fans are looking for, fitting that spot better than a guy like Sam Williams.

The question, in my mind, is whether Stewart will fall that far. We've seen him mocked as far up as the high single digits, and with the Cowboys picking at 12, he may not be on the board when Dallas gets on the clock. Besides, we all know Jerry Jones's proclivity for picking a flashy player, and Stewart— though he could develop into that— does not exactly boast such a reputation.

Even so, I think this might be a sneaky great fit for both sides. I know many Texas A&M football fans would love to see Shemar Stewart in the silver and blue, as well. Hopefully we can see this manifest come draft time.
