Texas A&M basketball just notched a decisive victory over the LSU Tigers today, knocking off the Bayou Bengals in their own building. It was tight in the first half, but the Ags were able to pull away without much issue with some lockdown defense in the second period.

The Aggies now turn their attention to the SEC Tournament. Having locked up a regular season record of 22-9 (11-7 SEC), the Ags are in the 5th-place spot in Nashville, just barely missing out on the double bye.

Even with a single bye, though, there's some intrigue for the Aggies. They need at least one win in Nashville to feel comfortable with a three-seed spot in the NCAA tournament, which is one thing. But looking further down the bracket, the Aggies will have a personal score to settle in their game, no matter who the opponent is.

Texas A&M basketball will get chance for revenge in SEC Tournament, one way or another

Texas A&M basketball is set to play the winner of the game between 12th and 13th seeds in the SEC, a game that will be played this Wednesday, with the Aggies awaiting on Thursday.

Those 12th and 13th seeds? Texas and Vanderbilt— both of which defeated the Aggies by extremely narrow margins the last time they played.

We've seen byes go sideways in Nashville before, with the team getting rest looking more rusty than anything else, but you have to think the Aggies will have revenge on the mind here. Both games that A&M lost were extremely close, with neither being contests that the Ags should have dropped.

If the Aggies are able to settle those scores, they'll have another game waiting that will be personal. The winner of A&M's game will face off against Tennessee in the quarterfinals, and there's no doubt that the Aggies are postively itching to get another shot at the Volunteers.

This could be a great run for the Aggies in Nashville. One thing is for sure, though: they had better win that first game. Otherwise, the seed line in March Madness could be in jeopardy.
