Texas A&M baseball fell to Oklahoma in their series opener last night by a score of 9-8 despite a very hot start from the Aggies' bats. The loss paled in comparison, however, to the concern that Aggie fans felt when one of their top relievers, Josh Stewart, had to exit the game in the sixth inning with a worrying-looking injury.
Stewart has been with this Aggie team since 2023 after transferring from Texas. He was a key part of the Aggies' rotation when they made the trip to the College World Series in 2024, and his fire and excitement on the mound made him a quick fan favorite.
In 2025, Stewart made only one appearance before he suffered a season-ending injury, with 2026 set to be his big return for Texas A&M. However, based on what we saw last night against Oklahoma, that is very much in question right now.
Josh Stewart suffers injury against Oklahoma as Aggies fall late to Sooners
This is a big series for the Aggies, who are now at 15-2 on the year. Oklahoma is ranked 9th in the nation, and the Aggies are just outside the top 20. Their game against UCLA was an embarrassment, but other than that, they've more than held their own so far this season.

Things started out great, as the Aggies got four runs across in the first inning, but offense was harder to come by after that point. The pitching staff struggled a bit against the Oklahoma bats, and things got chippy between the two teams, but eventually OU prevailed.
The Aggies need to match the Sooners tonight and get a win, especially in light of what happened to Stewart. Taking the series against OU would salvage some morale, which they are in precious need of given the injury to one of their best arms.
There's no confirmation yet on the nature of Stewart's injury, and it's best not to speculate, but it certainly didn't look good. Hopefully, though, he's able to come back this season at some point. Texas A&M will take on Oklahoma in game two of their series tonight at 4 PM CT.
