Ar'maj Reed-Adams officially kicks off rivalry week by mercilessly flaming Texas

The Aggie captain didn't mince his words when discussing what he thought of the Longhorns.

The Texas A&M and Texas rivalry, despite a long hiatus before the Longhorns followed the Aggies to the SEC, has burned as bright and as hot as any other rivalry in the country even in that intervening period. Even while the teams weren't playing, everyone in the state of Texas still picked a side and knew where they fell.

That includes people like Ar'maj Reed-Adams, who has had the (dis)pleasure of playing the Longhorns every year of his collegiate career thanks to his transfer from Kansas to Texas A&M. Reed-Adams, who played up at Mesquite Horn and DeSoto during high school, was not even in middle school when the series halted, but his dislike for the Longhorns is obvious.

During some media availability today, Reed-Adams spoke somewhat furtively about this upcoming game against the Longhorns during this massive rivalry week. His dislike shone through in one moment, though, when speaking about how Texas chose to disrespect Kyle Field at the conclusion of last year's game.

Ar'maj Reed-Adams lashes out at Texas ahead of rivalry weekend game: 'Cowards do what cowards do'

Reed-Adams was asked about the Texas team gathering around and scuffing the A&M logo at midfield following the conclusion of last year's game, after all of the Aggie players had gone to the locker room. He didn't exactly mince words in his response, which you can see below.

"Cowards do what cowards do."

It is a pretty sorry move to pull a stunt like this only once you're sure there's no threat of retribution from the other team. I don't doubt such craven behavior has been on the minds of the Aggies ever since this point as they look forward to Friday's game.

This is one that Mike Elko won't have to work hard to get the team's attention for. They're going to be completely locked in and ready to dominate the day down in Austin, as well they should be.

This is a matchup that heavily favors the Aggies on paper, but rivalries can get wonky sometimes. Hopefully, A&M can press their clear advantages and emerge with a resounding win to finish out their undefeated season.
