The Aggie Offense Gets Hot Late

Both games stayed close for awhile, Wednesday’s contest even more so. However, the Aggie offense got hot in the late innings and the Vaqueros simply could not keep up. In total, Texas A&M scored 23 runs in the two game series. Simply put, the Maroon and White got the job done against UTRGV.

Tuesday

The Vaqueros struck early, scoring on a throwing error in the first. However, the Aggies responded quickly. The Maroon and White sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 4. The inning was highlighted by a 2-run single by freshman Cam Blake.

An unearned run, 2 bases loaded RBI outs, and a 2-run jack gave the Vaqueros the lead. Texas A&M trailed 6-5 headed to the home half of the 5th inning, but that didn’t last long. Senior Austin Homan scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and Nick Choruby would give the Aggies the permanent lead scoring on yet another wild pitch later that inning.

The Aggies weren’t done after the 5th. They added insurance in the 6th inning to seal an Aggie victory, 9 runs of insurance. Only one of the 9 was considered earned. The concave of hits was long, bubble filled, and extremely enjoyable for Aggie fans. Austin Homan would be the only Aggie to not record a hit in the inning.

One of the many shinning stars of Tuesday’s victory was freshman Logan Foster. He finished 2 for 6 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored on the night.
