First Quarter

1:17 p.m.  – Nick Starkel will quarterback the white team. He starts out with a play action boot to a tight end, Tanner Schorp. Tight ends have been an emphasis this spring.

1:18 p.m. – Calvin Kline hauls in a vertical pass for 30 yards from Starkel. Two passes. Two tight end catches. I’m starting to believe the coaching staff really will utilize them in the offense.

1:20 p.m. – TOUCHDOWN! Starkel to Rogers.

Starkel looked sharp on that drive. No incompletions. 71 yards in 3:23. White takes a 7-0 lead.

1:24 p.m. – Mond overthrows one receiver and has another pass batted down at the line. Not as accurate as Starkel on his first drive. The Maroon team punts.

1:30 p.m. – Starkel looks extremely comfortable with his tight ends, but Schorp can’t hang on to the football. Three straight incompletions on the second drive, but only one of them was on the QB.

1:32 p.m. – The first penalty of the day is a holding call on the maroon team, now quarterbacked by Jake Hubenak.

1:33 p.m. – Christian Kirk sighiting!

1:34 p.m. – Shane Tripucka has looked nice on two punts so far. High and hanging, no returns yet.

1:39 p.m. – The defensive line on both sides of the ball has gotten their hands up and knocked down some passes. The absence of Garrett and Hall is going to continue to be a focal point during the offseason.

1:43 p.m. Mond looks through his progressions, makes a great throw on the left sideline to Christian Kirk. His best pass of the day and the maroon team is across midfield.

1:44 p.m. – TOUCHDOWN MAROON! Mond hits tight end Aaron Handsford along the right sideline. He’s been dead on accurate on his last two downfield passes.

1:49 p.m. – Braden White takes down Trey Williams on third and short and the maroon team has to punt. That’s definitely something that is worth monitoring going forward. Texas A&M was awful against the inside running game last year. There are a lot of new faces that are going to try to change that narrative.

1:51 p.m. – Rakeem Boyd running physical. Plows through some defenders after catching a shovel passes in space from Starkel.

1:53 p.m. – Third and short. The white team executes a draw play up the middle. ZERO pressure inside from the defensive line right there, but they rule them short on third down. Fourth and inches for White – timeout.

That’s all folks. The Aggies have wrapped up their spring game and we’ll have to wait another four months to see the maroon and white take the football field again.
