Second Quarter

2:00 p.m. – After one quarter the Maroon and White teams are tied at seven. One touchdown pass each from Kellen Mond and Nick Starkel. No turnovers.

2:02 p.m. – Fourth and 11, the pocket collapses quickly, but Starkel still hit Rodgers on the hands down field but it’s incomplete. Excellent pressure from the defensive ends on that play.

2:05 p.m. – Christian Kirk tries a reverse wide receiver pass. We’ve seen the Aggies run that exact trick play twice last season and in last year’s spring game. There is so much film on that play that it won’t work again in the regular season. We need some more razzle-dazzle.

2:12 p.m. – After 20 minutes of football each quarterback has a touchdown pass. The defense has looked better at the line of scrimmage.

2:13 p.m. – Mond fools everyone (including the cameraman) and takes off for the first down. He can run!

2:14 p.m. – Larry Pryor picks off Mond on a deflected pass. Jarrett Johnson with the pressure. Can’t blame too much of that pick on Mond, but good job by Pryor to react with the ball in the air.

2:19 p.m. – Mond has flipped teams. He’s back on the field with the White squad after that interception.

2:20 p.m. – INTERCEPTION! Mond is picked off again on a deflected pass. Perhaps the window was too small, but it wasn’t a bad throw.

2:24 p.m. – Another batted pass at the line of scrimmage. That’s got to be the third or fourth pass knocked down at the line. Excellent job.

2:25 p.m. – Daniel Lacamera isn’t even close on a 47 yard field goal. No good. He’d like a do-over on that one.

2:30 p.m – Etwi with a 71 yard catch and run from Starkel. Good acceleration, but moreso poor coverage and field vision from the secondary of the White team.

2:31 p.m. –  TOUCHDOWN MAROON! Etwi takes handoff and plows up the middle for at touchdown. Nice to see the push from the offensive line in a short yardage situation.

2:37 p.m.Donovan Wilson smashes Rodgers on the sideline, knocking the ball out of his hands. Justin Evans might be gone, but rest assure we still have at least one guy that’s willing to lay some people out.

2:38 p.m. – HALF TIME. The Maroon team leads the White team 21-7.
