Nicholls State players to watch

QB: Chase Fourcade

Sophomore Chase Fourcade is the starting quarterback for the Colonels.  He received All-Southland Honorable Mention last year after throwing for 2,482 yards with 18 passing touchdowns and nine rushing touchdowns. In this year’s season opener against McNeese State, he threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He added another 49 yards with his legs. However, he also ended up throwing two interceptions last Thursday.

WR: Damion Jeanpiere Jr.

Damion Jeanpiere, Jr. is a junior wide receiver out of Kenner, Louisiana. He played in all 11 games last year for the Colonels. He finished the year with 505 yards on 37 catches. Six of the 37 catches he turned into touchdowns while averaging a total of 13.6 per catch last season. In the game last week against McNeese State he hauled in two touchdowns with 145 yards on only three receptions, one of them being a game long of 77 yards.

DB: Jonavon Lewis

Redshirt sophomore Jonavon Lewis played in each game last year receiving two starts. He had 17 tackles including eight solo tackles. In the lone game this season he has had one interception that he took back 67 yards to the house for a touchdown.
