3. Kellen Mond

This kid just keeps continuing to impress. Coming off of an impressive come-from-behind victory versus South Carolina, Mond was close to doing the same against a much tougher opponent.

For those of you who don’t know, Alabama’s defense is notorious for making freshman quarterbacks look like freshman quarterbacks. Shoot, they’ve even made some of the most experienced college quarterbacks look like freshman. It became clear in the second half of this game that Mond would not fall victim to this.

Yes, Mond did struggle a lot during this game. However he never seemed rattled. He was able to remain poised even after turning the ball over twice, once on a fumble and once via a Minkah Fitzpatrick Interception.

He was certainly poised on the 4th-and-goal play where he utilized his legs to extend the play and eventually deliver an absolute dime to Christian Kirk for an Aggie touchdown. Mond did his best Johnny Manziel impression as he made multiple Alabama defenders miss before throwing a strike to Kirk. If that play is a sample of what’s to come, A&M fans are in for a treat.

Mond completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts and racked up 237 passing yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown. Although Mond came up short, he performed very admirably.  He went toe to toe with arguably the best defense in all of college football and was never fazed. That’s more than enough to earn yourself a Gig’Em Gazette helmet sticker.
