3. Tennessee hasn’t scored a touchdown in three weeks

Tennessee certainly isn’t alone in its offensive struggles – Texas A&M has been woefully inconsistent since the first half of the UCLA game – but no team in the country is struggling as much as the Vols right now.

The Volunteers last touchdown came against a win-less UMass team who they only beat by four points. Outside of a three-point loss to Hawaii, this is the closest game the Minutemen have played all year – and that game was in Knoxville. With trips to Alabama and Kentucky looming in the next two weeks the road doesn’t get much easier for the Vols.

A look further ahead at the Volunteers’ schedule doesn’t provide much comfort either – based on performance alone, the 2017 Vols may only have three wins left on the table. Southern Mississippi and Missouri should be winnable, as should the season finale at home against Vanderbilt.

Three wins in the next six weeks would leave the Volunteers at 6-6, 2-6 in conference play. Both the Missouri game and the Vanderbilt game could be traps, however, if the Volunteers can’t find some sort of offense.

Head Coach Butch Jones started the season on the hot seat and if the Volunteers can’t get their offense figured out in a hurry, you probably won’t see Jones on the Tennessee sidelines come 2018.
