5. Mississippi State Bulldogs

When: Saturday, Oct. 27

Venue: Davis-Wade Stadium, Starkville, Mississippi

Realistically Mississippi State, Ole Miss, or Arkansas could go here. None of the three teams should be overlooked. Both Mississippi schools have been a thorn in the Aggies sides the last few seasons but I ultimately think Mississippi State is the most important of the three games.

The Aggies take on the Bulldogs in Starkville in the middle of the three game road trip I mentioned earlier. A big reason Jimbo Fisher was hired – other than to win championships – was to figure out how to get the Aggies to win games late in the season.

Mississippi State is the eighth game of 2018 for Texas A&M and has traditionally been a game the Aggies have struggled in. The Aggies’ lone SEC win in Week 8 from 2014-2017 a 35-28 victory over South Carolina in 2015.

Next: Regular season position by position grades

Just like the Aggies need to go at least 1-1 against Clemson and Alabama, it’s equally important that they come out of this stretch with at least one win. I don’t think they can go 0-3 in this stretch and still consider this season successful.

2017 score: 35-14 Mississippi State win

Early prediction: Aggies WIN
