Mid-Week Matchups

Home: SFA, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Northwestern St, UT Arlington, A&M Corpus Christi, Houston, Texas, Texas State, Abilene Christian, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston St.

Away: Rice

Let’s first take a minute and appreciate that out of the 13 mid-week matchups for Texas A&M, 12 of them will take place at Olsen Field. Many of these opponents will make a return trip to College Station such as SFA, Incarnate Word, Prairie View A&M, Abilene Christian, A&M Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist and Sam Houston St. Incredibly, the Aggies won all these home matchups last year with the exception of the Sam Houston St matchup.

The Aggies also dropped a mid-week matchup on the road to UT Arlington last year. Out of the 13 teams scheduled for mid-week matchups, four of them made the 2017 NCAA Tournament: Texas, Houston, Rice and Sam Houston St. The 12th Man will all be looking forward to when the Texas Longhorns return to Olsen Field on Apr. 10.

Frisco College Baseball Classic: LA Tech, Baylor, Cal

Texas A&M will face an interesting field at the Frisco College Baseball Classic on Mar. 2 – Mar. 4 at RoughRiders Ballpark in Frisco, TX. Baylor and Texas A&M matched up last year at the Shriners Classic in a game the Aggies would like to forget. The Bears walked it off with a game ending grand slam, dropping the Aggies to 1-2 over the weekend. However, Texas A&M got revenge in the Houston Regional, defeating Baylor 8-5.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have not played the Aggies since 2014 when Texas A&M edged out a series over the Bulldogs in College Station. The Bulldogs are entering their second season under head coach Lane Burroughs after going 36-20 in his debut season.

Finally, the Aggies will matchup with the University of California Bears for the first time since an incredible regional matchup in College Station back in 2015. The Bears have not been back in the postseason since 2015 but are looking to rebound after a rough 2017, posting a 25-29 record.
