Texas A&M Baseball: Aggies sweep by Rhode Island

Game 3: Texas A&M defeats Rhode Island 10-2

Break out the bats Texas A&M. The Aggies unlocked their power with five home runs to close out the series with a sweeping 10-2 victory over the Rams. Zach DeLoach, George Janca and Chris Andritsos all tallied a home run apiece while newcomer Michael Helman launched two home runs out of Olsen Field. The talented junior went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI to finish out the series.

Freshman DeLoach and Will Frizzell combined with Helman for six hits and 5 RBI. These newcomers came in with high expectations and lived up to the billing over Opening Weekend.

Junior Mitchell Kilkenny solidified the final piece of the Aggies starting rotation with a great Sunday performance. Kilkenny allowed only tw0 runs in 6.1 innings of work while tallying six strikeouts. Junior Nolan Hoffman also made his season debut in relief with two innings of work only allowing one hit.

Overall, Texas A&M did exactly what they needed to over this Opening Weekend: the starters performed well and went deep into the game, the freshman came ready to play and the Aggie bats only got better as the weekend went on. Texas A&M returns to action on Tuesday night when they welcome Stephen F Austin to Olsen Field at 6:30 PM.
