By Tim England
Game 3: Ole Miss defeats Texas A&M 5-4 (Full Box)
Hunter Coleman’s late double fell about a foot short of becoming a home run and the Rebels stole Game 3 by the score of 5-4 and claimed the series over Texas A&M. Similar to Game 1, the Aggies surrendered a multi-run lead due to errors leading to unearned runs.
Texas A&M surrendered two unearned runs in the fifth to give Ole Miss a 5-4 lead after a fielding and throwing error. Logan Foster tied the game at five with an RBI single in the fifth but the Rebels responded with a pair in the seventh to claim the lead for good.
Coleman’s double in the bottom of the ninth pulled Texas A&M within one but the Aggies were unable to push the tying run across. Foster and Coleman led the Aggies at the plate combining for six of the 13 Aggie hits and four of the 6 RBI.
Mitchell Kilkenny had a rough time as the Aggie starter, surrendering five runs on eight hits, though only three of them were earned. Kilkenny now leads the Aggies in overall innings pitched with 38.2. Asa Lacy was charged with the loss after giving up one run in 1.2 innings of work. Chafin and Hoffman both saw action again, allowing a combined zero runs and one hit.
