Game 3: Tennessee defeats Texas A&M 6-4 (Full Box)

Tennessee had an answer for everything Texas A&M did on Sunday as the Volunteers claimed the weekend series with a 6-4 victory. Aggie starter Stephen Kolek was looking for another lights out performance after his outing last week against Alabama.

Instead, Kolek lasted only three innings after giving up four early runs on three hits. Asa Lacy was brought in who only lasted just above an inning and gave up another run. Cason Sherrod, who was ultimately saddled with his second loss of the season, went one inning and gave up a run. Nolan Hoffman closed out the final 2.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits. Consistency is what is really lacking from the Aggie pitching staff and time is short to figure it out.

At the plate, Chris Andritsos had a solid performance in his return to the starting lineup, going 1-for-4, scoring a run and racking up two RBI. Michael Helman, Braden Shewmake and Will Frizzell each tallied two hits apiece with Frizzell also racking up an RBI. The biggest issue facing the Aggies on Sunday was getting the leadoff batter aboard, as the Aggies only managed this once.

Texas A&M returns to action on Tuesday night back at Olsen Field vs. Abilene Christian at 6:30 PM.
