Scouting Report

While not a perennial power like LSU, Mississippi State could be a force to be reckoned with like they were in the 2014 season when they climbed all the way up to No. 1 in the polls.

They return anywhere from 17 to 19 starters and a host of senior leadership at important positions. Redshirt senior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is not only the team’s definitive offensive leader, but he’s already been projected to go in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

That same projection had two Mississippi State defensive lineman going in the first round as well. They are stacked across the board this season. Losing Dan Mullen to Florida shouldn’t have a negative impact as long as Joe Moorhead is even an average head coach. He has good experience leading Penn State’s electric offense the last two seasons and should bring a lot to the table for MSU.

A&M has lost two in a row to Mississippi State and will have a tough go not making it a winning streak for the Bulldogs. To that end, I can never pass up an opportunity to throw in a Major League reference, even if it’s from the sequel.
