Scouting Report

The Auburn Tigers overachieved in 2017 but there were plenty of warning signs for their explosion. They returned a bunch of starters from the 2016 season and had a quarterback with a lot of promise. While they don’t return as many starters this year, that 2017 All-SEC quarterback is back and looking for a national title run.

Jarrett Stidham likely looked at a stacked 2018 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks and opted to return for the 2018 season to improve on his own draft stock as well. It was a major win for this Auburn program, and there is plenty of time for Stidham to move up NFL Draft boards.

They also return most of their defense that ranked No. 14 in yards allowed and No. 12 in points allowed in the 2017 season. Points will be difficult to come by against this Tigers team.

While not as deafening as some of the other SEC West stadiums, Auburn could be one of the 10 best teams in the country again this season. Playing them away from Kyle Field will be extremely difficult, despite the fact that A&M went 3-0 at Jordan-Hare under Kevin Sumlin. Hopefully that success continues under Fisher with a host of returning starters of their own.
