Quarterback battle

By the time August rolls around, Fisher will still have not named a starting quarterback, and if you believe what he’s been telling the media, he’s not close to making a decision.

Based on Fisher’s history and their play, it would seem Nick Starkel has a bead on Kellen Mond for the starting job. Starkel is a more accurate passer and his skill set fits the type of quarterback Fisher used in the past.

However, there are rumblings out of College Station that Mond is giving Starkel a run for his money. He was an erratic passer in 2017, especially right out of the gate and against tougher defenses. Mond would have to have shown a dramatic improvement with his consistency and accuracy to make this interesting.

This is by far the most important roster decision Fisher will make this season, and he’s taking his time to do it.
