Starting Cornerbacks

Cornerback might be the most wide open position entering the 2018 season. There were no real stand out players in 2017 from a statistical standpoint, and the Aggie pass defense ranked 85th as a whole last season.

But this is an interesting stat on Charles Oliver, who could be one of the leading candidates to start at one of the cornerback spots.

He also tied for the team lead with eight passes defended. He tied with Debione Renfro, who led all corners with 53 tackles, and Myles Jones, who was the only corner to record an interception in 2017.

One thing is abundantly clear: the Aggies need drastic improvement from their corners in 2018. No spot is set, but Oliver was a sophomore and Jones and Renfro were both true freshman. Their experience was invaluable and they have a lot of room for improvement.
