Daylon Mack

Mack is probably the only player on this list who didn’t have far to fall from a performance stand point. Despite being one of the highest rated overall players in the 2015 recruiting class, he never flashed that potential on the field in John Chavis’ defense. He was inconsistent, didn’t seem to put in the work, and all signs pointed to him being a full-on bust.

That is until Jimbo Fisher and Mike Elko came to town.

Something, whether it was the coaching staff rejuvenating him, or the prospect of him failing to reach the NFL which was all but guaranteed before he set foot in College Station, got him going. From the get go, players and coaches noticed a difference. They saw a player that dedicated himself to being excellent.

It paid off. Though he doesn’t have gaudy stats, Mack was key in the Aggies Top 5 ranked run defense and also brought pressure up the middle. He finished 2018 with 5.5 sacks, which is impressive from the defensive tackle position.

Mack no doubt put himself back on the radar of NFL scouts.
