Kellen Mond

You wouldn’t get much of an argument from me if you expected more from Kellen Mond this season and were disappointed with his results. There were times he was erratic and held the offense back, such as in the losses to Mississippi State and Auburn which were both winnable games. The Aggie Football roller coaster rose and fell with Mond’s play for the most part.

However, I was someone who fully expected Nick Starkel to get the start coming into this season. Mond looked atrocious as a freshman. His accuracy was awful and he didn’t seem ready to take over this team just yet. On the flip side, Starkel looked incredible in the Belk Bowl and in the spring game.

Mond took steps forward I didn’t see coming. He was a much better passer under the tutelage of Fisher. The inconsistency did not go away, but “good Mond” showed up a hell of a lot more than “bad Mond” in 2018. The goal for next season has to be eliminating “bad Mond,” obviously, and his play actually made me believe that can happen.

The Aggie signal caller completed 57.6 percent of his passes for 2,967 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added 387 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Hopefully he finishes the season strong in the Gator Bowl and gains confidence for the 2019 season.
