Texas A&M Football’s senior safety Leon O’Neal will help this unit stay intact

The Texas A&M Football team won’t have to use bent rules to keep Leon O’Neal on their defense — this will be his fourth season in College Station. O’Neal didn’t play much in his freshman year with the Aggies but has been a crucial part of a strong defense for the past two seasons.

In his three years, he has accumulated 103 total tackles, 7 for loss, 4 interceptions, and 7 passes deflected. He has had a rollercoaster career, but will ultimately serve as an anchor for Jimbo Fisher’s defense in 2021.

Like many players on this team in the past few years, O’Neal has drastically improved from year to year. After a season with a lot of rookie mistakes in 2018, he improved. In 2019, he built off of that success. In 2020, he had his best season yet.

Expect him to take the next step in the Aggies 2021 season, as this team could be a contender for the College Football Playoff. If that is the case, O’Neal will play a huge role in getting this team there through his experience and leadership abilities.
