Texas A&M Football opponent No. 9: Auburn Tigers

When you’re looking for competitive matchups in the SEC, you don’t have to look much further than Texas A&M vs. Auburn. Since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012, this series has been neck-and-neck, with each team trading victories.

After flip-flopping victories in the first five games, Auburn established dominance for a few years, winning three straight. This would be put to a step with a pretty dominating win by the Aggies in 2020.

In 2021, there’s no reason that this shouldn’t be another dogfight for a win. Auburn had a relative off-year in 2020, going 6-4 and losing to the Aggies. They would find themselves finishing in third place in the SEC West, two spots below Alabama and a single spot below Texas A&M.

Luckily for Jimbo Fisher, he’ll catch Auburn at home in Bryan Harsin’s first year as head coach of the Tigers. Auburn will return Bo Nix but will have a lot of work to do on both ends. A handful of staffing changes should make for scrambled up football from the Tigers, helping the Aggies on their quest to the College Football Playoff.

Aggies fans will hope that the Tigers’ new staff has a steep learning curve, allowing them to gain the upper hand for the second straight year. I have the Aggies winning this game by a couple of touchdowns.

Prediction: Win, 8-1
