There hasn’t been an excess of positive news surrounding the Texas A&M Basketball team as of late. The team has seen nine players from last year’s team enter the transfer portal. After a rough year from the program, Buzz Williams is looking to rebuild.

And for a while, he was rebuilding. He wasn’t signing any high-profile players, but he was putting together a very promising roster. The team was shaping up to be a completely new-look squad in the 2021-22 season.

And Buzz Williams has big plans, as demonstrated by the effort that he is putting into bringing in strong transfer players to the program.

The Texas A&M Basketball team secured a commitment from a former 4-star forward

On Thursday, the Texas A&M Basketball team secured a commitment from a player who was very highly regarded in high school. Henry Coleman, a former Duke Basketball player has chosen to play in College Station.

Along with Manny Obaseki, a five-star shooting guard out of Allen, Texas, this basketball team is set to make some noise in the SEC this coming season. These two players will form one of the most dangerous 1-2 punches in the conference.

While Obaseki has most recently played his best basketball, Coleman hasn’t seen meaningful minutes on the court since he arrived in Durham. He wasn’t in a bad Duke Basketball team’s rotation in the 2020-21 season, and as a result, he entered the transfer portal.

For Buzz Williams, this will be a huge pickup for the 2021 season. He may not have done much on the Duke Basketball team, but he’ll be an instant leader for the Aggies.

Coleman is an extremely strong athlete who can go big or small, depending on what the team needs. At 6-8, 240 lbs, there are few players in college basketball who he cant cover. He’ll be huge defensively for Texas A&M.

He’s no slouch on the offensive end either. The forward isn’t a great shooter or ball handler, but he’s not a lost cause. He’s close to become an elite all-around player and hopefully, Williams can turn him into an NBA Draft pick.
