Even though Jimbo Fisher has made recruiting look easy for the Texas A&M Football team, he has it tougher than arguably any school in the country. With more strong in-state recruits than most other schools, the Aggies have high levels of competition for any player that they are pursuing.

The 2022 class is no exception to that.

Right now, the Aggies’ 2022 class is shaping up to be another top ten recruiting class in the country. That said, there is a lot of work to do before this thing really takes shape. With a ton of turnover on the offensive line, Fisher is looking to add another piece that could fill in if the Aggies don’t find a starter in the upcoming season.

One of the players who could fill in on this offensive line is 2022 OT Kelvin Banks. Banks is a 6-5, 300-pound offensive tackle out of Humble Texas, and he is ranked among the best recruits in the country.

The Texas A&M Football team is trending for Banks, but Texas is breathing down their neck

Right now, the Texas A&M Football team has a distinct lead on everybody else to land Banks, but they’re not home-free just quite yet. In fact, recent information has led some to believe that the Texas Longhorns may have snuck their way into teams that he is considering.

According to Mike Roach of 247Sports (paid content), the two teams that are pursuing Banks most aggressively are your Aggies and the Longhorns. Texas must believe that they still have a chance, otherwise, they would have dropped out of the race long ago.

What does this mean for Texas A&M?

Well, for starters, the Aggies will have to continue to pour resources in the direction of Kelvin Banks, even if they’ve already put in more work than anybody else. Even with six crystal balls in favor of Texas A&M, this one will be a dogfight until the end.

Banks also has offers from Oregon, LSU, and Oklahoma State, a school that is thought of as a third competitor in this race.

Jimbo Fisher will have to buckle down to get this recruit, as he could turn into an integral part of this offensive line down the road.
