The Texas A&M Football program is no stranger to having some of the best defenders in college football on their team.

Most recently, Aggie fans will remember Myles Garrett, who was a unanimous All-American in College Station and won the Butkus Award, given to college football’s best defensive lineman. The former Aggie is now tearing it up in the NFL, quickly becoming one of the best defensive players in the league.

Another name that comes to mind is Von Miller, who is known as one of the best NFL players of the 2010s. Miller took a bit longer to settle in at the college level, but excelled just as much near the end of his career and at the next level.

And while the Aggies will be sure to have a strong defense again in 2021, there may be a single performer who rises above the rest.

Texas A&M Football DE DeMarvin Leal could be one of the best defenders in the game

Again, the Texas A&M Football team has a lot of talent throughout the entire depth chart. Every single player that attends TAMU to play college football has NFL potential. That said, one player has scary potential. NFL Defensive Player of the Year-type potential.

That player is DeMarvin Leal.

Leal came in as a 5-star recruit and one of the highest-rated players in his class. The big selling point for Leal was his athleticism. He had the size to be an elite NFL talent but has taken a bit of time to grow into himself.

In 2021, he should be there.

Leal was also listed on Mel Kiper’s draft board as the second-best defensive end prospect for the 2022 NFL Draft. Leal has a long way to go but has as much potential as anybody in the game. If he has the season that he is expected to, the defensive end could be a game-changer for the Aggies.
