For Texas A&M Football fans, this offseason has probably felt like the longest offseason in recorded history. When you have a coach like Jimbo Fisher, the hype of the dead zone in college football can last forever.
That said, the 2021 college football season is now officially single-digit days away from happening. This year, there will be full crowds in attendance. Kyle Field will be booming.
And as the arrival of the season gets closer, it’ll be time for fans to start scheduling flights, hotels, and any other necessary travel plans to watch their favorite team play this fall. Aggie fans will now have a frame of reference, as the timing of the first three games was officially released on Thursday.
The Texas A&M Football team will open their season with a night game vs. Kent State
The timing of kickoff for the Aggies’ first three games of the season can be found via the Texas A&M Football Twitter page.
The Aggies will open up their season with a night game against the Kent State Golden flashes with a 7 p.m. (central) kickoff time on September 4th. Kyle Field should be booming for its first game with full attendance in nearly two years.
Kent State has a terrible defense, so this should be good practice for a first-year starting quarterback and an almost entirely new slate of offensive linemen. That said, the Golden Flashes also had an explosive offensive last year, so if the Texas A&M defense can hold them to a low scoring total, it could be a strong confidence boost heading into the rest of the season.
They’ll continue to play their next game with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Colorado. This one will likely shape up to be a more competitive game and may give Haynes King or Zach Calzada their first real test as starting quarterback.
The final game that was given a kickoff time on Thursday will be a contest against New Mexico. Tailgaters will not be happy, as this game has an 11:00 a.m. central time kickoff. The student section will be stumbling out of bed into Kyle Field.
These three games should be a good opportunity for the Aggies to get acclimated with their new team before heading straight into their SEC schedule. If Texas A&M can make a statement in their first three games, they’ll be one of the teams to beat in 2021.
