Texas A&M Football TE Jalen Wydermyer is set to have a career season in 2021

Much like his offensive counterpart in Isaiah Spiller, Aggie tight end Jalen Wydermyer is generally considered a player who can be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The big-bodied tight end is among the best pass-catching players at his position in college football, with a handful of experience and a lot of athleticism to his name.

As previously mentioned, the Texas A&M Football team has a lot of uncertainty on the offensive end, with a new quarterback, new-look offensive line, and scattered receiving corps. Wydermyer, among other things, is a glimpse of stability on an ever-changing unit.

While the offense will likely be more run-heavy in 2021-22, the passing game will see Wydermyer lifting the team on his back. The big man will be an easy target for Haynes King or Zach Calzada, while Spiller’s rushing presence will give the quarterback time to reach Wydermyer with the ball.

The bar is already set pretty high, with Wydermyer collecting 506 receiving yards and 6 touchdown receptions last season. In the upcoming season, both of these numbers could be shattered.

Specifically, look for his touchdown receptions to increase drastically, as he will become one of the deadliest red-zone threats in the country.
