The Texas A&M Football program has reached a point where its primary goal is one thing — to beat Alabama and reach the College Football Playoff. Last year, the Aggies did everything but beat Alabama, falling short of the CFP because of a single loss to the Crimson Tide.

In 2021, beating Nick Saban’s squad is priority number one.

And even though the Crimson Tide are annual SEC champions, that should be their goal as well — beat the Aggies. Texas A&M is currently their biggest challenger in the toughest conference in college football. As a result, this game could turn out to be a good one.

Alabama vs. Texas A&M Football game could turn out to be one of the best QB battles this year

Even though the Aggies are still in the thick of one of the best quarterback competitions in the country, this year’s battle between Alabama and Texas A&M could quickly become one of the best quarterback duels in the country.

Right now, Jimbo Fisher will be deciding between Haynes King and Zach Calzada. King seems like the obvious favorite, serving as Kellen Mond’s backup last season. That said, Calzada was Mond’s backup a season before and turned a lot of heads in the Maroon and White spring game.

King is an extremely talented quarterback, earning the 5th-ranked spot among dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2020 class. He’ll likely win the job, but if Calzada beats him out, the Aggies will have a dominant quarterback under center.

This, in turn, will make for one of the best quarterback duels in recent memory.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will have Bryce Young under center, one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Young will be entering his freshman season at Alabama as the best quarterback in his class, ranking 2nd among players of any position.

Young has already become one of the most-talked-about players at the college level, reportedly earning nearly $1 million in endorsement deals since the NCAA’s new NIL rules were released.

Whether or not Young becomes a Heisman candidate, he’s guaranteed to be one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. In all likelihood, he’ll be among the best in the country. Haynes King (or Zach Calzada), on the other hand, will have to earn their place.

Jimbo Fisher has a long history of turning every quarterback he gets his hands on into a Heisman candidate, so King or Calzada are set to be his next great passer.

Both players are dual-threat quarterbacks who will cause issues for opposing teams, so this could turn into a high-scoring affair. The Aggies will try to hold the Tide to less than 52 points, while ‘Bama’s inexperienced defense will be desperately trying to figure out the Aggies’ high-octane offense.
