No. 3: The Texas A&M Football team might be able to take down a vulnerable Clemson Football team

If I had a confidence meter for the three games that I’ve chosen in this article, the Clemson game would be at the lowest confidence level. Yes, the Tigers are 0-1, but they lost to Georgia, who looked like every bit of a title-contender.

But what if neither team is a title contender?

I mean, think about it for a second. When was the last time we saw a high-profile, low-scoring game like this? In my eyes, it’s much more likely that both of these teams are fringe top-ten teams who have strong defenses and bad offenses. I think if Alabama played either of them today, the Tide are winning by double digits.

But where does this put Texas A&M?

I don’t really know. This early in the season, it’s hard to claim that Texas A&M is any less of a pretender than the two teams that clashed in a top-five matchup. A&M did shut down last year’s highest-scoring offense in the country, but it was a MAC team.

Still, if there’s another top ten team to have confidence against, it has to be Clemson, who couldn’t muster a whisper of offense this past weekend.

Am I confident in this choice? No, but I do think the Aggies would have the edge momentum-wise if they played Dabo Swinney’s Clemson team today.
