Bold Prediction No. 3: Texas A&M football TE Jalen Wydermyer will finally have a big game

One of the Aggie football players who was predicted to have a huge 2021 season was Jalen Wydermyer, Texas A&M’s starting tight end. The big-bodied Aggie pass-catcher reeled in 556 yards and six touchdown passes last year. In fewer games, he improved upon the 447 yards he collected his freshman year.

Unfortunately, his junior year hasn’t seen the leap that many expected. While Wydermyer is an undeniably better player, he hasn’t been able to showcase his abilities on an offense that has been wounded.

In seven games, Wydermyer has caught just 21 passes for 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns. These are respectable numbers, but they project him to fall short of last year’s totals, at least in a comparable ten-game stretch.

With Calzada in a groove, Wydermyer has benefitted, catching two passing touchdowns in the past three games as well as his highest receiving total of the year.

South Carolina does have a really good passing game, but I think a strong performance from Aggie RB Isaiah Spiller will benefit Zach Calzada in the passing game, opening up the defense. Hopefully, this is the game that gets Wydermyer back on track.
