Texas A&M Football QB Zach Calzada Transfer Destination No. 3: UCF

I’d like to go on record to say that I do not believe that UCF fans deserve to watch Zach Calzada play football. I’m not saying this to stir things up — the Knights have the most unpleasant, entitled fanbase in college sports. While schools like Michigan and Texas have unpleasant fans as well, they have a handful of respectable ones to even things out — the same cannot be said for UCF. I have never had a positive interaction with a fan of that team.

That said, the Knights are consistently one of the best group of five teams in college football. With Guz Malzahn as the team’s head coach, it feels like they have an extremely high ceiling. Still, quarterback struggles stained this team’s resume in 2021, with Dillon Gabriel electing to transfer out late in the season.

Mikey Keene stepped in and did a respectable job but the Knights will undoubtedly hold some interest in bringing in another quarterback option — Calzada could be that guy.

UCF did bring in Joey Gatewood from Kentucky, but this could be a quarterback competition that sees Calzada win. If the former Aggie QB wants to prove to himself that he can beat out another passer, this would be a strong challenge for him.

Calzada could also get some NFL exposure at a pretty large brand in UCF and wouldn’t sacrifice warm weather, as he would be doing at Western or Pitt.
