The Texas A&M football team’s most experienced returning player will become a leader on the defensive end

In 2021, the Texas A&M football team had no shortage of leaders. The Aggies had experienced guys like Tyree Johnson, Leon O’Neal Jr., and Aaron Hansford leading the defensive side of the ball, giving the unit as a whole a strong boost. Next year, the team’s leadership won’t be as prevalent.

Thankfully, one player can step into a huge leadership role next year.

As you can see, that player is Demani Richardson, who recently announced his intent to return for one more season in College Station. Richardson has been as consistent as they come in his three seasons thus far, accumulating 172 total tackles, 9.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, six pass deflections, and a pair of forced fumbles.

With players like Leon O’Neal and DeMarvin Leal making headlines on this defense, Richardson’s name has slipped through the cracks to this point. That won’t happen in 2022, a year that will need to see a new leader on this defense.
