Texas A&M Football Non-Con Opponent No. 2: Clemson

Clemson seems like a more obvious pick here. While the Tigers had a relative down year in 2021, they’ve consistently been one of the best football teams in the entire country. They’ll want to put a 10-3 season in the rearview mirror and return to being a perennial College Football Playoff contender.

Most SEC teams would love to get a shot as Clemson any year. The issue here would be more on Clemson’s end — would the Tigers be willing to schedule a tough SEC opponent like Texas A&M? It would be tough.

Clemson has not shown much of a willingness to schedule tough opponents outside of the ACC, which is a very weak conference, in recent years. That said, they do have a few SEC opponents on the docket for the next few years, with LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina popping up on their “future opponents” list.

The Aggies would love an opportunity to prove themselves against one of the most talented rosters in the country. This could be a huge non-con opponent for a Texas A&M football team that doesn’t often get similar opportunities.
