Texas A&M Football Non-Con Opponent No. 3: Cincinnati

This one is somewhat of a compromise for the Texas A&M football team, which may not want to schedule games against powerhouse programs. If they aren’t willing to go after a Power Five College Football Playoff contender, the Aggies could take a shot at a Group of Five program.

That program is Cincinnati.

Cincy has been on the rise for a few years. Much like UCF in recent years, the Bearcats are looking to become the first Group of Five team to be in the College Football Playoff conversation on a year-to-year basis. They made it in 2021-22 before being blown out in the first round.

There are two primary reasons why I’m choosing the Bearcats for this list. The first is simple — they’re a program on the rise.

A&M shouldn’t be looking for a team that’s successful right now — they should be looking for one that has the pieces to be in contention down the road. That was the primary logic behind adding Michigan State to the list earlier and that’s the basis of this one.

The best part about Cincinnati is that it would be a very beatable opponent. Say what you want about Luke Fickell’s coaching — the Bearcats will never have the talent that Texas A&M does. On any given day, the Aggies have the better players.

Next. Is one elite class enough for Jimbo Fisher?. dark

If A&M is looking for an early-season out-of-conference top ten win, this would be their best bet.
