Texas A&M 2023 QB Target No. 3: Marquis Roby Jr. (Las Vegas, NV)

Marquis Roby Jr. is the lowest-profile prospect on this list. As things stand, Roby is a three-star prospect without any big offers. His best offers outside of A&M are likely from UCLA, Nevada, or Maryland.

If there’s a year to take a chance on a guy like Roby, this is it. The Aggies already have as much talent as any school could ask for under center with Haynes King, Max Johnson, and Conner Weigman fighting over the starting spot. There isn’t an immediate need at that spot — heck, there isn’t even a non-immediate need.

That said, Roby is surely an extremely talented player — A&M wouldn’t have offered him for no reason. I’m obligated to remind you that Johnny Manziel was just a three-star prospect at the high school level and won the Heisman as a freshman. Sometimes it’s worth it to take a chance on a lower-profile guy.

At 6’1″ and 190 pounds, Roby measures up similarly against Marcel Reed, the last player I talked about on this list.

Roby would certainly be a high-risk, high-reward player. Is this the right time to take that risk?
