3. Haynes King gives Texas A&M Football a better chance for big plays

One of the biggest pluses of King’s game is his ability to extend plays. He has shown that he can do that even just last season, the only issue was that he made mistakes on a couple of those plays, resulting in interceptions.

With a whole year to work on that part of his game, he looks like he’s improved his poise, accuracy, and has added more zip to the ball than what was shown last year. A difference between Johnson and King is that the latter has a higher ceiling in terms of big play ability. This is due to not just his speed, but his ability to sense pressure and roll out when needed.

Although the floor is higher with Johnson in the game, Fisher has stressed that he wants to be aggressive, and that was in part a reason why King was chosen as the starter. He gives this team the best chance to be elite.

Coach Fisher knows this season needs to be different than years’ past. Haynes King has the opportunity to take this team to the next step with his knowledge of the system, his running ability, and his ability to make time for his receivers to get open. These things will allow Texas A&M to contend for a playoff spot, and that’s why rolling with King was the right decision.
